summit school
middle school program

Summit School's middle school program is structured similarly to the elementary program with 300 minute instructional days tied to each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).

As students enter 8th grade, they begin working on the skills necessary for greater independence in high school. Summit's 8th grade is not in self-contained classrooms. Students attend classes in the upstairs high school wing where they have lockers and work to hone their organizational and time management skills.

Middle school students begin participating in the Transition Program with a particular focus on social skills with social lunches and other skill-building activities.

Finally, speech and language services and Occupational Therapy continue for students whose IEP's calls for them without push-in services in the classroom.
